What to pack
Weather in September/October varies across Brazil. Pipa averages 73-89ºF (23-32ºC), but São Paulo can drop to  57ºF (14ºC).

Pack lightweight clothes (cotton/natural fibers) for warmer areas, sunscreen, and a hat/cap for the beach or walking.

General Dress Code:

People dress similarly to the U.S.: shorts, T-shirts, dresses, and jeans are typical.

Government buildings:
Men must wear pants and closed-toe shoes.

Churches:
Women should avoid very short
or low-cut clothing.

Shops/Restaurants:
Avoid entering in beachwear unless very close to the beach—it’s frowned upon. Cover up bikinis when heading out.

Pubs/Bars:
Men often need shoes or sneakers (no flip-flops or beachwear at night). In Pipa, rules are more relaxed, but dressier outfits like jeans, sandals, or even high heels are common.

Tip:
Air-conditioning can make indoor spaces very cold—bring a sweater or cardigan for malls or restaurants.
Pro tip: Don’t wear socks with sandals
—you’ll stand out as a gringo!
